Pludo Gravitational Waterclock STEM Kit – Water Flow & Energy Transformation for Ages 8–11 | Grade 3 to 5

Discover the magic of time and gravity with the Pludo Gravitational Waterclock STEM Kit, specially designed for children aged 8–11 (Grades 3–5). This exciting DIY kit lets kids build their very own working water clock while exploring scientific concepts like gravity, water flow, and energy transformation.

As children assemble and operate the water clock, they learn how water movement can be used to measure time. The kit works using the force of gravity on water. As water slowly drips downward, the water level in the lower chamber rises. A floating component moves upward with the rising water and turns the clock pointer. By controlling the flow rate, the clock measures time in a gradual and visual manner, making abstract concepts easy to understand.

Perfect for both home learning and classroom experiments, this STEM kit is ideal for young innovators who love exploring how things work. It makes a thoughtful addition to any collection of kids learning kits or activity kits, inspiring practical knowledge through play.

How the Gravitational Action Water Clock Works

Gravity Effect:

• The water drop clock operates primarily through the slow dripping of water from an upper container under the influence of gravity.

• Time measurement is achieved by controlling the dripping speed of water drops.

• Water drips from a higher container through a small hole or tube into a lower container at a relatively steady rate.

• The passage of time is determined by counting the number of water drops in a given period or by measuring the time it takes for water drops to fill the lower container.

Buoyancy and Mechanical Transmission:

• In more complex water drop clock models, the buoyancy of water and mechanical transmission devices work together to drive the pointer rotation for time display.

• As water flows out from the dropping device, it provides upward buoyancy to the buoyancy device, causing it to gradually rise.

• The rising motion of the buoyancy device is transmitted to the pointer or dial through a mechanical mechanism.

• This mechanical transmission drives the pointer to rotate, visually displaying the elapsed time.

What Your Child Will Learn

• Build a functioning water clock and observe how water flow controls time.

• Understand the concept of gravity and flow rate through guided experimentation.

• Strengthen fine motor skills and problem-solving abilities during assembly.

• Learn how ancient scientists measured time before modern clocks were invented.

• Boost creativity and curiosity by designing and customizing their own timepiece.

• Perfect for classroom experiments, home learning, or STEM clubs.
